4/19/09 - Sunday: "New Comic"

Lightfire ComicWow, it has been a really long time since my last Lightfire comic. I mean a REALLY long time. I think that in that time I've found out how to get my CG art to look a little better, but of course it takes more work (go figure). I also just started playing around with PHP and SQL again, trying to see if I can program a unique commenting system from the ground up. But, I'm doing it off-and-on and it's going slow. Until then, there's always the regular contact form. Please let me know what you think of the new comic.

Honestly, I considered using open-source scripts for the comments, but after hours of searching I just couldn't find one I liked.

2/5/09 - Thursday: "Fix Blender Cursor"

View MenuBlender is this 3d program I've been using on a number of projects. Anyway, I was so frustrated when I realized a solution to a problem I kept having was so simple.

View Properties menuIf you accidently left click out in the gray area, the cursor that indicates where new objects are created is moved! (I had assumed it was called the "object origin", but that is apparently the pink dot indicator, so it's a different issue).

To get the cursor back to its starting location, simply open the View menu, go to View Properties..., and enter 0,0,0 for the 3D Cursor. The next time you make a box, cylinder, or other basic object, it should now be created starting at this absolute origin.

2/4/09 - Wednesday: "gameblog"

I've got a blog up and going at This blog covers news about video games on multiple platforms, with an emphasis on PC gaming. This blog is still in "experimental" stage, meaning I may find another way to incorporate it into my website, or change its graphic design in the future.

1/6/09 - Tuesday: "Extinction"

Tabula Rasa, the science-fiction Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) where you play as humans avoiding extinction by aliens, is itself going extinct. Servers will be closing February 28, 2009. On the bright side, free gameplay started December 19, 2008 (instead of the previously annouced free play start date of January 10, 2009).

It's always sad to see another game with such potential go down the tube, but it was fun while it lasted. But hey, until it closes in February, it's free. So you might as well give it a try and see if you can figure out what went wrong.
